Q: Can you suggest something natural we could use in our vegetable garden when insects begin to eat holes in the leaves. We do not want to use insecticides.
A: In my opinion, spinosad (Green Light Spinosad) is an excellent choice for those who want an organic alternative to synthetic insecticides. Spinosad is derived from a naturally occurring soil organism, much as the organic caterpillar killer ^Bacillus thuringiensis^. It is classified organic by the National Organic Standards Board. It has little toxicity to warm blooded creatures or to beneficial insects. Like any insecticide, spinosad does not kill every type of insect. Identify your problem bugs and make sure they are listed on the spinosad label before using it.
