Q: Are yellow jackets attracted to white clover? I’m thinking about mixing white clover seed with grass seed when I reseed my lawn this spring. If this will attract yellow jackets I may rethink my plan.
A: My observation is that honeybees are more attracted to clover than yellow jackets. Honeybees love clover nectar, but they are usually so busy foraging that you can walk through a cloud of them near the ground without getting stung. Further, since white clover blooms in spring before yellow jacket numbers are very high, I doubt that you would see many of them.
