Q: We installed germander as a potential hedge plant, per instructions from our landscape planner. However, as the germander grows (10″-12″ long), the sprouts have begun to lie down due to their weight. How in the world do we make a hedge out of this?
A: It would have to be a very short hedge as germander doesn’t grow much more that a foot tall. I suppose it could be used as a knot garden-hedge in an herb garden. I’ve never grown it but I suppose you would have to prune it regularly to keep the stems stocky.
