Q: I have a friend who purchased 10 pallets of fescue sod 2 weeks ago. She put in 1 pallet the same day. The other 9 pallets were not installed until this past Sunday.
The first pallet put down looks great. Only 20% of the remaining sod has lived. She has called the supplier. They tell her this has happened due to not laying the sod on the first day. Does this sound normal for fescue sod?
A: Unfortunately for her, yes. Sod needs to be laid within two days of delivery. Otherwise it heats up internally and the sod cooks. Sorry for the bad news.
