Q: What are some good cultivars of winterberry holly?
A: Flo Chafin at Specialty Ornamentals says “Although there are many, my experience is that if you want a big plant, use ‘Winter Red’. If you need a small, residential size, use ‘Red Sprite’. Both provide masses of huge berries.
The pollinators for ‘Winter Red’ are ‘Apollo’ or ‘Southern Gentlemen’. For ‘Red Sprite’, use ‘Jim Dandy'(an early bloomer).”
See Specialty Ornamentals for more great native and non-native plants.
