Q: I will be retiring soon and would like to investigate buying land and starting a small farm. I don’t know what I can raise on a small acreage and still hope to make money. Do you have any information?
A: If you are willing to move to some of the more rural parts of georgia, there are thousands of acres of productive farmland available.
If you buy just a few, you have to raise something that has high value per acre – not beef cattle, soybeans or hay.
The University of Florida has an excellent site that helps small farmers decide what to do with their land.
