my tree just now
hi. i was bought a chinese elm in february. i have fed,watered, and kept it in the same light since then but as you will see from the before and after pictures something is going very wrong. the before pic was taken in april and the later 1 recently. there seems to be a white crystal type substance over the soil and at the base of the trunk. some of the branches seem to have died. i have double and treble checked the dosage on the food, and i am giving it the right amount so can rule that out. could u please advise as to what might be wrong as i don't want my tree to die. thank you.

It could be several things, but stop fertilizing your tree until it returns to health. It's never good to fertilizer a weak tree.
Your elm could be infected by pest / bugs, but i suspect it could also be your water. Do you know if you have soft and/or hard water? Did the white crystals form over time or was it very quick?
