QuestionSir
I have a Deshojo Maple of about 20 years old and I have it in a large pot outdoors (Midlands UK). It has always been healthy, it is about 5ft tall and bushy. It is just turning from it's spring red to summer mottle but over the last few days one branch has died. I do not know how fast the onset was but definitely under 7 days. I cannot see any bugs on it and the rest of the tree appears as healthy as always. I have sprayed it with insecticide - just in case. Any opinion on what has happened or course of action?
AnswerHi Graham,
I honestly do not know. Has you moved the tree, is it receiving the same amount of water and light as previous years? I can't imagine light and water would be the culprit.
Have you tried posting your question on bonsai sites like http://www.Learning2Bonsai.com or www.BonsaiSite.com. Both of these website have lots of experienced gardeners answering questions and they may have a better answer.
I wish I knew the answer and could be more helpful.
