QuestionYuzo,
Last week I bought a Trident maple over Ebay from a vendor in Sacramento, Ca. However I didn't expect the Trident
Maple to be in full foliage which it is. I am in the mid-atlantic (Washington, DC). We're in very, very early spring and the sugar
maples around here are just beginning to have small buds. Hi temps are around 60 or so and lows drop to low to mid 40s Do you suggest I take any measures to ensure the tree will survive? Although the days are gradually warming and we get about 8min of sunlight more each day, do you think the tree will be "fooled" and go into dormancy? Should I chance with a defoliation?
Thanks very much for your help
AnswerHi,
I think you need to ask the eBay vendor these questions. Do you know if the Maple was ever dormant? You can try asking other bonsai members on http://www.Learning2Bonsai.com but I think you need to know more about the tree and the vendor that sold it to you.
I wish i could help you more, and you may not have a choice to go through another short dormancy period based on your location. I have personally never tried this.
Thank you
