QuestionHello,
I recently recieved a ficus retusa bonsai as a gift. It's supposedly 9 years old but right now there is only a small crown of leaves towards the top of the plant. I'm concerned because I live in an apartment that doesn't recieve much light--it's pretty dim throughout the day. I've tried moving the plant on top of my bed for the daytime so that it gets more light, but I've heard that moving it all the time could be harmful. It's lost a few leaves already and I'm getting worried! What should I do and do you have any other care tips? Thanks much,
Kristie
AnswerSorry I missed your question, it seems the direct questions are not comming to me, go figure?????
Be careful about watering, don't over water but don't let it get bone dry either. The more light the better, the possible source of your porblem, but Ficus will do alright in low light conditions. You might try a flourescent light near it, one of those that you can put in a standard light socket. This probably will not be optimum light levels but it will help.
Some leaf loss on a Ficus this time of year is normal. You probably do not have a problem. Again be careful that you do not over water at this time.
