QuestionSorry to bother you again. One question seems to lead to two more. (1) do I report the azalea or put it into the ground? (2) will the garage suffice for a shed to overwinterif I cover the plant with mulch or a blanket? We can get down to -20 so the garage does get cold.
Thanks for your patience and help.
AnswerThe garage should be fine. I would put it in a box with the pot mulched up to the rim. You will have to check occassionally to see if it needs water. There is no reason to repot at this time, usually repotting is done after flowering in the spring, and of course that's when you can do the Topiary work on it as well. In the garage you should not have to cover the plant, it is the wind that kills them, it sucks the moisture right out of the tree. In their natural habitat most of them get burried in snow and that acts as an insulation.
