Gerbera
Dear Nick,
I have so many questions! I hope you dont mind because I am fairly new to all of this. I will start with my first question about my gerbera daisies. I got them at a wedding and within a week the flowers wilted and died. It has held out for some time now, and the leaves have remained green, but some of them have started to yellow/brown and wilt. I have read that you have to keep the water off the leaves because it will "burn" them, is that true? what can I do to get it to flower for me again? or at least to stop looking so sad and droopy?
I read somewhere that I can use used coffee grounds, but then later on I read that you should use those outside...HELP!

Answer...I suspect that the problem is in the soil base that they are in, it could be hard packed to the point that the roots are unable to take in nutrients,,and water (it just runs down the side and around the roots, or the roots are compromised and not functioning properly..); change out the soil and use a good quality potting mix with drainage at the bottom 2 inches of the pot (gravel). Put it in a location where it gets morning sun and afternoon dappled shade, until it adjusts and improves; cut off all dead tissue and wait for new growth to develop. Once you see new , healthy growth, then you can begin adapting it to a location where it will get sun throughout the day.
