Questioni planted dahlias in a container last year and was very successful. i was told they are hardy and the bulbs will make it through the connecticut winter yet nothing has emerged. is leaving them in a container through the winter worse than leaving them in the ground? or maybe im just being impatient. i appreciate any help you can give me.
AnswerHi Ann, lift them and see what condition they are in, they should have sent out growth by now; when you lift the bulb, see if it is still solid or is it soft (which means it probably rotted..). If it is still solid then replant it(they same way it was sitting in the container initially), water it, and put the container outside where it can get some Sun, then take a wait and see approach.
