QuestionWe have a patio Peach Tree that we bought about a year & half ago. It is planted in the ground. We live in Tennessee.any way you answered someone elses' question about the fruit not being edible. What we wnt to know is can we take the fruit and somehow put it in water and try to get it to sprout roots so we can try to grow another one? If so how do we go about doing that?
AnswerThese dwarf trees are graphed. This means that the tree breeder took part of a dwarf tree and graphed it onto a piece of a rooted standard tree. This is the only way to create these dwarf trees. It is a rather difficult and timely process, usually taking many years to get a fruit baring size tree.
The suckers that grow up from the roots, and the seeds, will all revert back to the standard tree.
So, it is best to buy the dwarf tree, and let them deal with the touble it takes to make it.
