containers ?

Question
I would like to learn how to grow and maintain plants that grow and live
inside glass or plastic containers, like aquariums or similiar containers. I saw
an
aquarium filled with flowering plants, and the container appeared to be
closed,
as if it was a self sustaining environment ?
Any tips for a novice will be appreciated.

Secondly, can I saend you a photo of a plant I am trying to identify ?

Answer
What you are describing is called a TERRARIUM. They were a very popular fad in the sixties and seventies. I had them as well. They are great fun, if you know how they work. The main problem is too much water. If you are used to caring for plants, and watering, you may find this method too unusual. I did.
The whole theory is that the plants are self sustaining in the container. The moisture evaporates from the soil and condenses on the glass and runs down the sides, and back into the soil. So, they don't need us. They create their own water, oxygen, and carbon dioxide, without our help.
I am only giving you enough information to get you started.
For more details, and list of plants that will do best, go to your GOOGLE search, and put in Terrariums. I still have some of the old terrarium books, but there is too much information to write here.
Send the photo to [email protected]
put "Photo. .all experts" in the subject line.
Give me as much information, details, and description as you can.
