QuestionI read in the "Old Farmers Alminac" about growing potatos in a trash can. Could I also do that with sweet potatoes?
My next question is; How do you make pots out of news paper? I've been seeing this device to use, but is there a way to do it with out this. I need pots to start seeds with.
Thank you
David
AnswerSweet potatoes will grow fine in a trash can. Use good, rich, porous soil, that drains really well. Heavy garden soil will retain too much water, and cause the potatoes to rot. But, keep it well watered in the hot weather.
Another great way to grow potatoes, is by stacking old used tires, and filling with soil. When it is harvest time, it is easy. Just pull the tires off, and shake the dirt off of the potatoes.
I researched your second question, about news paper pots.
I put "Newspaper Pots" in google.com. It is my favorite search engine. But I am sure you could use any search.
There were over a million answers, with details about how to make them. So I had the choice of copying the directions, or giving you directions on how to find the answer. There were several really good methods, with different technics, I thought instead of choosing one, I would let you pick the one you like the best.
So even though I didn't write an answer, I am telling you where you will find the best answer for you.
