QuestionCan you please tell me if I can grow honeysuckle in a container,I live on Costa Blanca 2nd line to the sea,I have an open fence at bottom of my garden and would like something fragrant & pretty to give screening, if not this plant can you suggest another.Thankyou
AnswerYes, I have a honeysuckle in a container, but it is in a very big wooden box container. I don't think that is what you had in mind. Honeysuckle vines become very large.
Some better vines would be the clematis, jasmine, rose, or morning glory. They are smaller.
I have found, as a landscaper, that because it is a fence, doesn't mean it has to be a vine. Beautiful flowering shrubs are also nice along a fence. Maybe Daphne or Pieris Japonica.
The main thing is water. You will need to provide irrigation.
Most plants will benefit from regular pruning to thicken them, so that they provide a better screen.
I suggest talking to your local nursery, to see what they have. Then you will be able to see which one you like best.
