QuestionHi. My deck has been recently powerwashed and protected with a deck sealant (unsure whether oil- or water-based). The maintenance guys who did the work did not sufficiently protect my outdoor plants (rosemary, christmas cactus, agave, artemesia, etc.) therefore, leaving a film on most of the plants. The damage was done yesterday, and I am frantically trying to find a way to repair the damage, if possible. The Rosemary is already showing signs of stress, but I want to save all I can. Do you know of a way to repair the damage done?
Thanks in advance for your time!
Shannon
AnswerKeep repeatedly rinsing the plants with water.
Find out what the maintenance guys used, and what is in it.
When you find out, look up the ingredients to see if they are harmful to plants. I would also, while I was at it, caution the maintenance guys, that they should be more responsible when they spray. Possibly they will offer to pay for any plants that die.
If the plants are damaged, but not dead, then just cut the damaged parts off, and it will revive in time.
I am putting a sealant on my deck right now, and I have been moving many plants, in the heat, to get them out of the way. But I know that it is better to move them, then take a chance of having them get damaged.
