QuestionI planted several red salvias two months ago in planters on my porch. They are doing very well, as I figured they would. From all I have read they sounded like an easy plant to keep and grow. My question is, do salvias need to be pinched back to encourage denser growth? Most other flowering plants need this, but I was unsure about salvia. Also, any other special needs? Thanking you in advance
Answerthey like full sun and need to be fertilized 1-2 times per month. dead heading(removing) spent flowers will keep them producing more flowers faster. you don't need to pinch them back like other plants. sometimes pinching back will cause smaller flowers.
