Lobelia grows well in Full Sun, and Partial Shade. The soil should be fertile and high in organic matter. Well drained. Moist. Don't let them dry out. Lobelia like cool summer nights. Trim  lobelia back once the first wave of flowers has passed. This step will keep the plant flowering throughout the summer. In hot areas this plant may die back over summer, but will bounce back as the weather cools.
Plant the blue lobelia with yellow marigolds and the white lobelia with fuchsias and begonias.
