QuestionI have a 5 foot high Cyclone fence that runs about 30 feet. I'd like to cover it with some sort of vine, but temporarily I'd like to put some container plants there. Any recommendations that would be attractive, not too expensive, and afford some privacy ? I live in Queens , NY, and it is now May 1.
AnswerMy first thought, when you said not too expensive, and temporary, were, Nasturtium,or Morning glory,or Sweet Pea vines. These can easily be grown from seed. They may reseed. If that is a problem, then they are not the best choice. The new sprouts can be removed like weeds, if you don't want them.
The plants that are not grown from seed, and will not reseed, are expensive and permanent.
You will need to keep them watered in the heat, but no other care will be needed. Just remove the plants in the fall.
