I have a Cottoneaster in a large pot and would like to know how to keep it through the winter.

Phil,

Cotoneaster requires a cold period.  I would leave your container outside in a protected area.  Make sure you water well before the onset of winter and every so often during the winter so the pot does not dry out completely.
