Questionhow do i keep squirrels out of my flower potse?
AnswerYou can catch a squirrel in a medium-sized trap baited with fruit, nuts or peanut butter.
Use a scent repellent such as Ro-Pel, a commercial product, that smells and tastes awful to squirrels. Soak bulbs in Ro-Pel before planting. This repellent is available from Burlington Scientific Corporation.
Sticky repellents are worh a try. Eaton's 4 The Squirrel is also commercially available. The unpleasant sensation of gel on their feet discourages squirrels, unfortunately it can get on you as well when you touch the areas you have applied it. This gel is available from J.T. Eaton & Company.
The best way to discourage them is to move the pots in an area where they are not accessable. Squirrels are ingenious in foiling your attempts to thwart them. A single try at establishing a barrer may not do the job. You will have to keep trying until you come up with a control or combination of controls that finally outsmarts the wily marauders.
