Chemical weedkiller is bad for everyone.  It's got legally mandated warning signs all over the container.  But it makes a lot of money for the companies that make and sell them, so they push them hard and do a good job convincing people that using them is a legitimate part of a lawn maintenance program.

There are more scientific and user-friendly choices around.  But it depends on your Grass, and on your location, and on your Weeds.

In short, Annual Weeds (like annual Crabgrass) don't need to be weed-killed.  If you keep them from blooming and seeding, that problem will take care of itself.

Corn Gluten Meal is an alternative to chemical pre-emergent weedkiller.  But it must be used in spring before the Weeds sprout.  Now it's too late.

Many others exist, but without knowing your location, I can't tell what you need.  Please advise.
