QuestionI live in Nevada and I had 2000 sq. ft. of hydroseed sprayed last summer. Obviously it didn't do as well as i thought that it would do, but it did take in some areas it is still lightly spread what can I do to help it out this year? Is it okay to fertilize the lawn?
AnswerFunny, but I thought there was no water in Nevada. Sounds like you spent a ton of money seeding your landscape. Tell me please what went wrong here -- I assume you had an auto sprinkler irrigating it all the time? What Seed? Why did you Hydro?
If worse comes to worse, you may have to start over. This time, do it right. Build up your soil this summer and I guarantee you will have some gorgeous Grass out there next year.
What kind of Grass?
The Las Vegas Valley Water District figures that Bermudagrass, Buffalo, St Augustine and Zoysia 'require about one-third less water than Tall Fescue grass.' Read the whole speech here:

Golfers play all over Las Vegas on Bermudagrass and Bentgrass greens. Bermuda is the Grass Of Choice on MOST golf greens. You can mow horizontal (prostrate) Bermudagrass once a week; most other hybrids need a 2x cut. Bermuda is most famous for heat tolerance and low water demands -- key features for what you want to grow. I don't know if that's what you used the first time around, but the second time, if you need to do a second time, this is what you should be looking at.
Robert Trent Jones designed the Southern Highlands Golf Club -- PGA tour host. They grow Bermudagrass overseeded with Ryegrass on the Fairway and Tees and mow 3/8th inch to 2 1/2 inches. The green is Bentgrass mowed at .095 in, just slightly thicker than a coat of green paint.
17 miles south, Lake Las Vegas Resort plants its golf courses with Tifway 2 Bermudagrass Fairways and Tees and Crenshaw Bentgrass greens.
Please tell me what they Hydro'd, and how you cared for this since last Summer.
