2 weeks ago I fertilized my backyard with a cheap fertilizer (I know not too bright). The lawn seems to be browning and the blades easily come up including the roots.  It seems obvious that I burnt the lawn but want to know how to repair it.  Help!!!!

Monsieur Laurent, you must be more careful.

St Augustine is an EASY Grass to grow.  It's also easy to KILL your St Augustine, even when you know what you're doing.

Please tell me the name of the 'cheap' fertilizer (and by the way, this has nothing to do with whether or not your Grass thrives or fails -- more on that later).

Also please tell me where you live -- a zipcode will do, or the closest big city.

You need to do a Soil Test.  Not to revive Grass that is kaput, but to give any survivors a great new start.  rsvp asap!  Merci.
