QuestionI need to treat my lawn with dolomitic lime and was wondering if you know of any safety concerns? We have 2 dogs and many kids who spend a lot of time in the yard.
Thank you.
Answerthe MSDS putout by the EPA list dolomitic lime as a non-toxic substance. it does warn that lime can be harmful if inhaled(similar to any dust) and if injested in large amounts. for your lawn i would recommend you buy your turf lime from a reputable source(garden center/nursery, farm supply store, etc.). hydrated lime can be more harmful to plants(turf). to minimize the harmfulness, wear a long sleave shirt and don't do it on a windy day. also so the animals don't ingest it wet the lawn areas after applying the lime to your lawn. this will get the lime off the blades of grass and down on the soil where it belongs. usually if that is a concern i will apply it just before the weather channel predicts rain.
good luck
