QuestionHi
I have a problem with both a lemon tree and orange tree that I have at the opposite ends of my garden. Even though the trees are about 6 or 7 years old they are only about 1.5 meters high. My main problem is that I get tons of flowers and fruit in the spring, but within a few weeks all the fruit fall, and I am left with only two or three lemons (or oranges). This happens every year. I've used various types of fertilizers, compost, iron, etc, but I'm not succeeding. Can you put me in the right direction?
Thank you
Answeri use to live in FL. i'm in NJ again now. i grew lemons and oranges while there. hopefully they are planted where they can get plenty of sun. sounds like you need to spray them from budbreak until the fruit matures for fungus and other pest problems. that's what the citrus growers do. normally you should start w/a refined oil spray before they leaf out in the spring. follow-up w/14 day intervals of a good recommended fungus/pesticide spray.
you need to visit a local garden center/nursery and buy some citrus fruit tree spray. quiz them on lemon and orange tree production while there. apply it according to the labeled directions for good results. buy a book on citrus trees while there.
good luck
