QuestionHi
I'm not sure whether this quite falls under your area of expertise, but I can ask and you can say no....
I love to bring flowers in from the garden, but too many uninvited insects wander out hours--sometimes days--later. Dahlias are the worst....6-8 earwigs and 1 wasp per flower are not uncommon, and you can't see them because they're inside the rolled petals.
I've tried immersing them underwater for 20 minutes, but there must be air pockets because I've still had problems. And the flowers don't last well after that. I don't want to spray with Raid, because they'll stink.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
Answer Hi Lori,
I know what you mean, and its frustrating having bugs crawling out of a beautiful flower. As a florist, I am using only commercially grown flowers which have been treated or fumigated before reaching the wholesaler. For home grown flowers, you might try asking a nursery person for suggestions. Good luck.
