Question"Hello, and thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my question.
For a while now I have been doing floral arranging as a hobby, and I was just recently married and even did all the flowers for my wedding.
I decided about a month ago, that I truly want to start up my own floral business. I know it will be alot of work I am sure, but I love doing this.
The ONLY thing that I have no clue about is how to price certain floral arrangements. Also, where do I get my flowers from, without the huge shipping fee?
I found a site that you can order bunches instead of having to order in huge bulk orders, which would be great, but for example, if I purchase $50 worth of flowers, the shipping is always $43. Which would be a total of $84. Does this mean I charge my customer that $84 plus labor fee?
Also, for example, what if I have a student come in who needs a boutonniere? Flowers must be ordered in bunches, then plus that huge shipping fee, that means in order for me to make a profit I would have to charge them ALOT for just a single flower.
Please help me! How do I price these flowers accordingly, and fairly for my customers, yet make a profit? And any tips on where to purchase flowers would be great!
Once again, thank you kindly for your time! :D

AnswerThis is why its not a easy task trying to open a shop in your home.
You must have a cooler and sell out of the cooler. Its not impossible to sell one boutineer if you have to order the flowers in but you must turn those flowers in a profitable time limit. When you rcustomer ask for a certain flower it is important to sell what you have in your cooler or try for a silk boutineer. There are many wholesale flower companies within large cities and I would suggest you use your local wholesalers. If you are in a rural area, there will always be a charge for delivery and it must be added to the price of your flowers. IF you could pick up the flowers at your wholesale company you wont have a delivery charge. Its always added to the cost of your product along with labor.
Good luck!
