We are trying to use 30" cylinder vases for steps at an outdoor wedding and want to put river rocks, apples, and apple pieces and cannot get the apples to sink. Is there a trick or solution to use in vases? Wedding is in late fall and want to have a fall theme, any suggestions?

Sorry, Patrice.  Apples wont sink no matter what you do... and apple pieces will get very brown and unsightly very quickly.

You may want to look at faux apples - especially through water they will look very authentic.

If you want real apples, you'll have to forgo the water to avoid the floating effect.
