QUESTION: I am sorry what I should have said is that I have not done this before and could you give me step by step instruction on how to do this. I need to know how tall the arrangements should be above the top of the bud vales and how do I extend the flowers after I cut theme from the bunch. The arrangements will be on the guest tables. What I want is a bud vales with one or two yellow roses and then maybe two or three white flowers. My granddaughter's colors are yellow and white. Rose Anne. Thank you.
AnswerDear Rose Anne,
As a general rule, the tallest flower should be about 1 1/2 times the height of your bud vase. You'll want to stagger down the heights from there.
Also, arrange like they grow! That is.... use the "buds" as the tallest, and use the most open flowers nearest the base. If you look at a rose spray, you'll see that is how they grow and will give you the most natural look.
If you need to add height to the flowers, you can wrap the stem with a piece of floral wire and then wrap the entire thing with floral tape - both available at your local craft store.
Good luck and enjoy!
