QuestionI am having a sweet sixteen for my daughter and her colors are chocolate, fuchsia and cream. Will hydrangea, roses and Callas lily be fine on an Eiffel tower vase 24in? Or what kind of combination of flowers will work best?
AnswerThis sounds quite lovely! I would suggest mini- callas and to cut up the hydrangea - to create variety throughout - sometimes the hydrangea tends to be too large of a flower and takes an unwelcomed center stage - especially when you pair it with the equally elegant rose and calla lily. The exception is if the hydrangea is large enough to cover the whole entire surface of its container - then you can insert roses & mini callas between the delicate petals of the hydrangea. It all depends on what you would like the focal flower to be and what type of shape you would like your creation to have. Make sure that you insert the individual hydragea stems in a water source - without it, they will rapidly wilt. Also ... a tip would be to fill the Eiffel Tower vase with colored marbles or add colored water. This will give the vase some weight - to steady the floral arrangement up on top. I use a few drops of food coloring to harmonize or contrast with the color scheme.
