QuestionQUESTION: I would like to totally submerge roses, 7 inches tall, in water in a clear narrow vase. How do I attach the roses to the bottom so they do not move. I want them to be arranged vertical and the same height. I prefer to use as little as possible in the bottom of the container, as I will be floating cranberries on the top. Also, if I cut the head off roses, will they sink to the bottom on a vase, or will they also have to be attached to the bottom.
thanks in advance for your time.
ANSWER: Yes, you will have to attach the roses or rose heads so that they won't float to the top. There are a few ways -1. tie it to curly willow ( cut @ the same height of the roses ) with fishing line. Experiment with it to see if the combined weights is enough to hold it in place. 2. Anchor it with a layer of decorative polished marbles or stones. 3. Use decorative floral wire and wrap it around the stems of the roses. Or, if you wish to use only the heads - curl the wire or fashion it somehow that it looks decorative and attach the one end of the wire at the base of the rose head. The weight of the colored wire should be heavy enough to keep the roses from floating. I'd even smash a coil of wire and place it @ the bottom of the vase for a decorative touch - and to possibly use it to anchor the other ends of the wire. Hope that this will help you with your display.

QUESTION: How about ink/paint for roses. I saw where someone had written on a rose and liked the way it looked. What do you suggest I use. thanks
AnswerThere is a specific floral spray that comes in various colors that florists use. It is called Design Master - I have used this spray paint and a small paintbrush to create "airbrushed" designs on white oriental lilies. It stood up to a clear coat of crowning glory. I am not sure if it will stand under a submersion of water though ... it may be possible.
