Quinceanera (spanish fiiftenn b-day party)

Question
Hello, I am trying to make my own centerpieces for my daughters party, which will be held in August of 09.  I am hoping to use light blue and white carnations.  Can I find light blue carnations or possibly make them at home?  If so, how long do they last? Any suggestions on arrangements?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks!

Answer
Carnations do not come in blue.  Pale blue carnations that you see in shops are dyed by putting a solution of blue food colouring into a vase and letting the flower "drink" it.
They last the same amount of time as normal carnations.  It is sometimes difficult to get a standard shade so I would suggest getting them from a florist.  They do not tend to be any more expensive than white carnations.
Best wishes
Jane
