Question
If orchids are floating on top of the water of a goldfish bowl -- for a centerpiece for a banquet -- will the orchids kill the goldfish we are planning to add?  If the goldfish are floating on the water it might be a turn off for the dinner guests!  Thank you so much!

What type of orchid do you plan on using?  How large of a bowl?  I do not see that certain types of orchids would kill a goldfish ... however, I would buy the fish the day of the wedding. Also, have someone set it up during right before the ceremony.  Remember to calculate the potential rowdiness of your reception - will the bowls be sturdy enoough not to tip over?  Try to add some colored marbles or smooth glass beads to the bottom ( sharp rocks will scrape the fish ) and it would give the centerpiece a splash of color. Another idea is to add a mirrored platter underneath the bowl.
