I would like to know how long it takes for a bird of paradise to open.  I will be purchasing them from a wholesaler for my daughter's wedding and would like to know how far ahead I need to get them.  I would also like to know how far ahead to order the calla lilies.  Thank you...

Bird of Paradise (Strelizia)opens rather slowly... but normally come in an open bud since the flower will often rot before opening after it arrives at it's final destination.  I would give them two days of conditioning (i.e. get them Wed. for a Saturday wedding).  Calas only need one day - you can get them Thursday or as late as Friday.
