QuestionDear Jane
I am a very amateur flower arranger & I have been asked to arrange the flowers for a friend's wedding in December (summer in South Africa). She is using Arum Lilies & yellow roses. Can you give me any advice about working with the Arum Lilies - they have quite thick stems & I'm concerned about the weight. They will be arranged in oasis & not a vase. Many thanks, Claire.
AnswerDear Claire,
Arum lilies are pretty straightforward to work with - the only special treatments that I know of are that they should be conditioned in warm, rather than cold, water.
The stems are thick and should be cut at an angle so that they go easily into the oasis. The heads should be fine.
Best wishes
Jane
