QuestionI am designing a wedding for a friend of mine and she wants to use the glass cylinders. I would like to know what supplies do I use to make a floral arrangement on the top of the cylinder?
AnswerHi Sheri,
What a fun project you are doing. This style is by far the most popular type of vase centerpiece we are doing this summer. All of the brides are wanting to do something fun like this on their reception tables.
Ok, first of all decide on what type of vase you want to use. Do you want to use a fluted vase or a true cylinder. Determine the size of the top opening. I use a lomey dish that I get at wholesale and then either an oasis sphere taped in to the dish or a brick of foam cut to the right size. You need that container up above to protect the vase from water running down, etc. You can fill the vase with all sorts of things like flowers, petals, fruit, etc. The flowers and greenery will naturally cover up the plate or container you have placed up above. If you are making a large arrangement, make sure you either wrap your foam in chicken wire and/or davey tape to protect the ball or foam from breaking apart. I would practice one well in advance if I were you. It can be a little tricky sometimes. Good luck and have fun. You will be really proud of your efforts as those arrangements are usually breathtaking.
