QuestionI see that you have answered this question twice, but could you please tell me if you think that using the saddle with oasis foam will really help keep the greenery fresher on a grave blanket. For the past three years, I have had my Mother's grave blanket made by a local florist, and then I decorate it. She always uses chicken wire, or a saddle without the wet floral foam. If I put the blanket on Mother's grave too early it starts turning brown before Christmas. We live in Texas where it hasn't gotten cold, and the sun shines constantly on Mother's grave. I have never noticed any difference in the "freshness" of our indoor Christmas trees when adding water daily. They seem to still get SO DRY. Do you think that using the wet foam will REALLY make a difference in keeping the grave blanket fresh through the season? I am going to try to make it myself this year, and would greatly appreciate your answer. I will strip the branches and pound lightly with a hammer before inserting into the wet floral foam....if you think that all of this will actually be worth the effort. I know that everyone appreciates all of the information that you have given. Thank you ahead of time, and "Happy Thanksgiving"..."Merry Christmas".
AnswerYes, the oasis will help. No question about it. Remember, too... with your Christmas tree as well as with any plant material; if you don't give it a new cut right before it is placed in the water, it wont be able to absorb the water and hence, will still dry out.
