QuestionHI, I am making these centerpieces for our covered dish dinner at school and I am having trouble getting anything to stick to the bottom of the pumpkin. What do you recommend? I currently am using a square styrofoam piece and put in the tallest flower which continually falls over. I used an all purpose glue thinking it would adhere but the pumpkin is bumpy and the flower falls over. Any suggestions how I can get the flower/s from falling over without purchasing more materials? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!
AnswerHi Cheryl,
If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds as if the floral foam is being kicked out of the pumpkin by the weight and balance of the flowers? If so, glue won't do you any good, nothing will work well enough. What you do want to do is to use plastic floral tape meant to secure floral foam in a container and; making sure the outside is completely dry, put one strip lengthwise and one widthwise over the opening of the pumpkin. That will help act as a balast for the foam. The other thing you can do is to use a few toothpicks that come up from the interior bottom of the pumpkin and then press the foam down into that.
If this isn't what you were asking, may I ask that you please write again and try to explain it so I can help!
Thanks!
