Questionhello -
I am handling the flower arrangements for a Jack and Jill bridal shower that is a barbecue (so it is very casual). I have purchased sunflowers to be delivered for the event, but can you recommend a good filler or complementary flower that I can arrange with the sunflowers. The container I am using for the centerpieces is a galvanized pail, 7 inches high and 9 inches accross.
thank you for your help
Diane
AnswerHi, Diane. Personally, my favorite filler to go with sunflowers is solidago (goldenrod). Or, you could go with monte casino, which is an aster that is usually white but also comes in lavender and purple. Another favorite of mine with sunflowers is caspia, also called sea lavender or limonium. This is a small purple flower. I know that purple and gold sound like they would clash, but you'd be amazed at how the two colors complement each other. Also, heather goes simply beatifully with sunflowers. Or if you can get your hands on a nice batch of waxflower, that's nice, too.
