Hi Shawnia.  Describing an arrangement is a very difficult thing to do.  This is certainly one instance where a picture is worth a thousand words.  For this reason, I'd like to refer you to a site that has pictures of dozens of styles of arrangements.  The address is:

I do want to point out that this is not my site.  I found it in a search and find the arrangements to be great foundation ideas.  You can add your own colors and textures to give the arrangements a personal touch.

I also recommend that you buy some wedding magazines and home decor magazines and study the styles in them.  Then just let your creativity flow.
