AnswerHi, June. The botanical name for Gerberas used in floral design is gerbera jamesonii. They are all of the same species, but each variety (which includes color and texture) carries a name, which the grower gives it. The same flower can carry a different variety name, depending on who grows it. Since it can be difficult to get one particular variety, and there are others that look exactly the same, no florist I've ever known has referred to any Gerbera by its variety name. We'd simply ask for a hot pink Gerbera.
A horticulturist or nursery worker would be more likely to give you a particular variety name for the flower you like.
