QuestionHello,
I have experience with veg gardens but I have never grown corn, the coming season I would like to try growing baby corn.
I have read corn should be protected with nets to keep birds at bay, but I will harvest it as baby, prior pollination and before it grows proper grains. Do you think those nets will be necessary anyways?
In my opinion it's the grains attracting birds so there shouldn't be any problem, but I lack experience to confirm my idea!
What do you think?
AnswerHello,
Sorry for my slow response, I have been moving and had problems getting my internet hooked up.
In my experience birds have never been a problem when I have grown corn. I am not that familiar with your area and what kind of birds may be in your area, however as you are harvesting early, I would assume you would not have any problem with birds so netting would not be needed.
I hope this helps.
Happy Gardening
