QuestionHi Mike,
My squash plants were doing wonderful, I have plenty of
acorns and all look healthy. In the past couple weeks, even with daily watering as needed, the plants have started wilting, leaves yellowing. They are looking rather sad at this point. Should I harvest the veggies in hopes they continue to ripen or allow them to stay on the vine and ripen. The squash are not ready for eating yet, I cut and cooked one this week and its still too firm with no flavor.
Thanks for any help :)
AnswerLori, I had the same problem this year. Even with daily watering, there just was not enough rainfall to sustain the plants. At this point, you would be best to harvest the squash and let it ripen indoors. Store them in a dark, cool location, such as a basement.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Mike
