QuestionNormally I water seeds and young plants with room temperaature water. I lazily watered tomato starts with outdoor water (perhaps 40 degrees) and the above ground parts sort of contorted themselves (like a human would curl into themselves for warmth). Just wondering if it was the cold water or something else. Thanks for your help!
DAWN
AnswerDawn, when a plant's leaves curl, it is a sign of shock. Given your explanation, I would absolutely agree that the cold water sent the plant into shock. As you stated, always use tepid water, especially with younger plants. Hopefully, the plant will recover within a few days.
Good luck, and have a great day.
