QuestionHi! My garden has bean and pepper plant with some ripe seeds on them. I was wondering if I could take the ripe seeds, store them away, and plant them next year? Or do the seeds need what is called a stratification period in order to germinate and grow? Thank you.
AnswerDear Victor,
I collect my seeds, and for the most part, they are heirloom. I just dry them and plant them the following spring. My understanding of stratification is to act as a catalyst for germination, which I wouldn't want to do for seeds I was saving.
I hope I understood your question properly.
Kind Regards,
