QuestionDon, I have a Goliath tomato plant along with 2 Better Boys. Recently, I have noticed that when they are in full sun the leaves get droopy and wilty. And some of the blossoms are burned. I have put blossom set and a calcium spray to prevent bottom rot on the plant. But when the sun goes down the plants seem to revive and look normal. Is this a result of the spray or does it suggest the roots are bound as they are in very large pots.
AnswerLinda:
In very hot sun tomatoes have a tendency to look a little droopy.
I think that the roots are bound in the pot and loosing the roots a little with out damaging would cause them to perk up.
I think that this is a normal situation for plants in pots.
