Bell Peppers & Tomatoes

Question
I have started to see brown spots on my bell pepper plants. They are not fully grown yet so, I hope I can do something to save them.

I am starting to get some bottom rot on my tomatoes. I was told that putting calcium at the base of the plant and watering it in the soil will stop this. Is this true and, where do I find the calcium?

This is my first raised garden. I have it in a 4X8 box. I put a load of top soil in and then , two bags of black cow, everything seems to be growing good, with the above exceptions.
Thank you for any help you can give me
Phil

Answer
Dear Phillip,
Both cases sound like some sort of fungus or mold problem.  Are the tomatoes up off the ground?  If not, I suggest staking them.  I suggest you go to a green house or nursery in your area, as they would be able to advise in regard to a remedy for problems in your area.  And they probably sell the remedy.
I wish you well in your gardening endeavor.
Kind Regards,
KD Liz
